Your donation to @The House will help real people address real needs.

The Arlington community we serve has experienced significant disinvestment for decades.

  • The median household income is $26,938.
  • The unemployment rate is 19%.
  • 31% of Arlington residents are low-income and severely cost-burdened.

In the face of these realities, here’s some of what we’ve accomplished:

  • Provided support and referral services to more than 300 residents
  • Linked approximately 200 residents to much-needed support services
  • Launched an annual summer camp program for 50 youth aged 5 to 13
  • Secured $250,000 in funding to assist seniors and single-family residents with necessary home repairs.
  • Provided families with linkages to energy and water assistance, mental health services, daycare services, Social
  • Security Administration and Department of Social Services and Police mediation services.

With your help, we can do even more.

@The House Building Initiative

We’re excited by the opportunity to make our settlement house a true home.  In partnership with Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc (CHAI) and RM Sovich Architecture, we’ve developed plans to create a building at 5345 Denmore Avenue, a vacant city-owned lot in a perfect location to serve the Arlington community.

It takes a village to raise a child. It takes collaboration and partnership — among government, private, and nonprofit organizations — to uplift a community.

That’s why a key component of @The House Inc.’s vision is to provide “access to available city, state, and other resources to help residents overcome challenges and realize their potential.”

     Our Golf Mission

G.O.L.F. in the Parks Is a Golf infused community-based initiative that facilitates mindfulness, the mind-body connection, self-sufficiency, and fitness within the community we serve. Our program focuses on effective communication, enhances their collaboration skills and critical thinking along with academic supports.

G.O.L.F. (Goals, Opportunity, Leadership, and Fun)  is a collaborative project between @ The House, Inc. and First Tee of Greater Baltimore. First Tee is an international youth development organization that introduces golf and its values to young people from all walks of life. They supplied us with access to their learning centers at the 5 Municipal Golf Courses in MD, where we also teamed up with the Pros for on-the-course training and support.

    2024 GOLF SUMMER YOUTH INITIATIVE

Last year like all the rest we had a great time with our Youth. This year we can serve 35 inner city youth aged 6-14 years old with Golf instruction, peer support, mental wellness support, arts and crafts, self-awareness interventions, and exploration. While currently housed in the Park Heights community we are looking for a more permanent location at the Northwest Driving Range where our Youth can have a stable home site to grow at within walking distance from their home.  There we will continue to teach Golf theory, course management,  putting, chipping, and effective swing and hitting. Some of our Youth struggle with learning disabilities, emotional distress, broken homes, and crime-driven neighborhoods which limits their growth and eventually makes them a product of their environment.  This program was birthed out of support for not just the Youth we serve but the entire family by linking them to the support needed to help facilitate wellness and wholeness as a unit.

    Phase II

This year we will develop 2 Cohorts to run simultaneously during the Summer - Cohort 1 (New Birds) beginners/Non-course ready *  Cohort 2 (Eagles) - advanced players/Course ready instruction. Adding more academic support in math and reading will afford us the opportunity to continue building rapport with our participants to assist them in enrolling in our New Afterschool Golf Clinic which will allow us to follow them closer during the school year for academic and emotional support.
